Beschrijving:Boeing 707 N7595A and Cessna 150 N60942 were both involved in a mid-air collision at 910m. The Cessna, flying VFR, crashed. The Boeing (on IFR, approach to Newark runway 04L) landed safely at Newark.
PROBABLE CAUSE: "The inability of both crews to see and avoid each other while operating in a system which permits VFR aircraft to operate up to 3000ft on random heading and altitude in a congested area under conditions of reduced visibility. Other causal factors were the deviation of the air carrier airplane from its clearance altitude and the conducting of student flight training in a congested control area under marginal flight visibility clearance."
