Two Ethiopian passengers brandished a gun and hijacked the aircraft, apparently protesting against the rule of Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie. They demanded to be flown to Libya. The first refueling stop was at Entebbe, Uganda. After negotiations both hijackers surrendered.
