Unfallbericht:
A THY Fokker F-28 jet was on a night instrument approach to Istanbul-Yesilköy (IST) when an electrical power failure occurred at the airport. The airport and runway lights went off but were restored within 10 seconds. During this period of darkness, the F-28 crew initiated a missed approach. The pilot elected to remain VFR under a variable ceiling of 240m. Because another aircraft was about to take-off, an extended downwind leg was flown. The aircraft crashed into the Sea of Marmara while maneuvering for another approach.
