The Let took off from the Musiara Airstrip at the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The passengers were foreign tourists. The airplane reportedly developed engine problems and the crew decided to make an emergency landing at the Mara Intrepids Airstrip, also located in the game reserve. It crash-landed shortly before reaching the airstrip.
