An Air France Airbus A380, operating flight 66 from Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, to Los Angeles International Airport, California, USA, diverted to Goose Bay, Canada following an en route engine malfunction.
The aircraft was en route over southern Greenland at FL370 when the no.4 engine suffered an uncontained failure. The entire fan and engine air inlet cowling broke away.
A decision was made to divert to Goose Bay where a safe landing was carried out on runway 26 at 15:42 UTC.
After landing, ARFF reported damage to the leading edge of the wing above the no. 4 engine and debris on the runway.

Danish civil aviation authorities delegated the investigation of the accident to BEA France.
