The Sakhalin Regional Transport prosecutor`s office issued 12 warnings to SAT Airlines regarding frequent mechanical problems with their airplanes. These warnings came as the result of an investigation concerning a recent mishap when the nose landing gear of an An-12 failed to extend on approach to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Airport. The crew was eventually able to lower the nose wheel and safely landed the airplane. The follow-up investigation by the prosecutor`s office revealed that SAT aircraft experienced 12 serious problems in 2005, 9 in 2006, and 2 more during the first 3 months of 2007. (Sakhalin Times)
