Narrative:
During external cargo operations to a ship, the helicopter suffered a loss of control and impacted the water. The pilot managed to get out of the aircraft, was rescued by boat. The aircraft sank.

Cause:
Loss of directional control after the cargo hook impacted the fenestron after a second hook, being used as a safety weight was inadvertently disconnected.
