On 21 August 2022, a Ukrainian Air Force Sukhoi Su-27S (likely 26 blue) was shot down by Russian forces somewhere over Ukraine. The pilot, pidpolkovnyk Pavlo Babych from the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade, was killed.

On 21 August 2022, the Ukrainian Air Force podpolkovnik Pavlo Babych was killed during combat mission over Ukraine. He was a Sukhoi Su-27 pilot from the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade.
