Narrative:
Cessna 210 N6181F crashed into the Gulf of Mexico, off the coast of Florida. Aircraft was involved in a mid-air collision with Cessna 172 N7554X, whilst both aircraft were engaged on "fish spotting sorties" and the Cessna 210 was destroyed. No in-flight communication between pilots of the two aircraft was noted, and they appear not to have seen each other.

Cessna 172 N7554X was en route to and from Marathon, Florida, sustained only minor damage and landed safely, the pilot was uninjured.. According to the NTSB report into the accident:

"PROBABLE CAUSE(S)
PILOT IN COMMAND - DIVERTED ATTENTION FROM OPERATION OF AIRCRAFT
PILOT IN COMMAND - FAILED TO SEE AND AVOID OTHER AIRCRAFT
PERSONNEL - MISCELLANEOUS-PERSONNEL: PILOT OF OTHER AIRCRAFT"
