Narrative:
Meteor WS753/J: Destroyed when crashed onto farmland at night at Shotover Hill, 4 miles east of Oxford, Oxfordshire after the canopy detached. Aircraft was on a high level navigation training sortie from RAF West Malling. The accident investigators blamed metal fatigue and recommended strengthening of the cockpit canopy, which flew off catastrophically at altitude causing his fighter jet to power dive vertically into Shotover Hill, Oxford. The crew did not eject and were both killed. 04/02/1957
