Smaller aircraft with two pilots was forced to land about 1.5 kilometers south of Rijeka airport on Sunday afternoon because of engine problems. The pilots of the damaged aircraft were unharmed.

CAUSE
The direct cause of this accident is that the OK-ELN aircraft consumed a useful amount of 36 gallons of fuel before reaching Rijeka Airport, which was due to inadequate flight preparation due to the change of flight route and weather conditions that prevailed on it.
The contributing factors that contributed to the engine shutdown were: bad weather conditions that prevailed on the aircraft flight route, a change in the flight route that was by approx. 30 km longer than the planned route, possible carburetor icing that could have led to a faster engine shutdown.
Organizational Factors: The commander of the aircraft was a person who 14 days ago extended the authority for SEP aircraft and was not qualified for the route and LDRI airport.
