Narrative:
Two people were killed Friday afternoon 18 May 2012 when a small, single-engine jet, 1 of a flight of 2, crashed just after takeoff west of Boulder City Airport - KBVU, Boulder City, Nevada. The accident occurred just after the pilot had issued a mayday call, "mayday, mayday, mayday, canopy".

According to Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor, the Czech-made Aero Vodochody L39 Albatros jet crashed for unknown reasons about a half mile west of the Boulder City Airport. The plane, built as a high-performance military trainer, went down in a desert area near a string of power lines.
