Narrative:
Bristol Blenheim Mk.1 L1112, 82 Squadron, RAF Cranfield, Bedfordshire: Written off (destroyed) 11/8/39 when engine failed, aircraft struck a ditch during a forced landing & tipped up at Chellaston, near Derby, Derbyshire. According to a contemporary newspaper report ("Derby Evening Telegraph" 12th August 1939) the crew of three were:

Pilot Squadron Leader G.F. Whistondale (Service #16259)
Observer/Bomb Aimer: Sergeant Harold John William 'Bish' Bareham (Service #564527 - he was later awarded the DFM and became a commissioned officer)
Wireless operator/Air-Gunner: George William Whitehead (Service #533230 - later awarded the DFM and Mentioned in Dispatches and a Canadian citizen)

All were uninjured.
