Two Americans were killed when their plane crashed into a mountain near the village of El Carrizal, Guatemala. Poor visibility was reported in the area at the time of the accident.
PROBABLE CAUSES:
The presence of contaminants in the fuel system, such as water, sedimentation or smaller solids, could have obstructed the flow of gasoline to the engine.
Catastrophic failure of one of the engine cylinders in flight could have caused the engine to stop without prior indication of failure or warning to the pilot.
