Narrative:
G-APFW Auster J/5R Alpine prototype, noted at Baginton on 23/4/60,the aircraft had a series of mishaps: bursting a tyre on landing on 22/4/60, and then left to clear customs at Elmdon on 23/3/60 only to have the brakes seize on landing and damaging a wingtip. G-APFW finally left for Kenya on 29/4/60 but was written off on 7/2/61 when it ditched into the English Channel en route to Nairobi at approximate co-ordinates 50'10" N, 01'10" W

Registration formally cancelled by UK Civil Avaition Aurthority 16/3/1961 as "destroyed"
