Also well secured by orange cones, an inattentive driver hit one main rotor blade with his ambulance.
The blade was ripped at it´s trailing edge.
All four main blades were disassembled on the highway and the ambulance helicopter was lifted onto a flat bed trailer and then ground transported for repair.
Damage on the helicopter was stated by Bavarian State Police to be apx. EUR 300,000 .
The freeway remained closed for the recovery of the EC 135 for apx six hours.
