Narrative:The aircraft was on a mining sortie to the Firth of Forth, it was caught in the beams of the East Linton searchlights a 602 Sqn Spitfire flown by Sgt Andrew MacDowall made a head on attack forcing the Heinkel to jettison its load of mines before diving away and crashing into the sea
