The pilot reported that when he made his first pass, at a height of about five meters and a speed of 40 km / h, as he prepared to make a U-turn, the helicopter struck a power line (medium voltage). The pilot found it difficult to operate the cyclic controls. He then moved to the right, and the right skid hit the top of a tree. He landed a short distance away, in the middle of a vineyard.
Three hundred square feet of brush were destroyed by a fire caused by electrical cables. During the collsion with the powerline, the pilot had the sun behind him, and he wore sunglasses. The canopy was slightly dirty, covered with dust and product application. The area is hilly. The treatment areas were numerous and scattered. The pilot had never worked in the area. He said that he had landed the day before at 19:00 hours on a helipad located near the area of the accident.
He made a quick aerial reconnaissance generally that evening and the next morning. Three cables were severed at the top of the rotor mast. The two rods flight controls were twisted.
