Narrative:DeHavilland DH,104 Dove Mk.1 HW520: Force-landed 8-1-1951 40 miles from Jaipur, Rajasthan after engine trouble. Engine fell off, hit building, crash landed near Jaipur. Deputy Minister of Defence Mar Gen Himmatsinghji and others. According to a contemporary newspaper report ("Indian Daily Mail 14 January 1951, p 1" - see link #1):
"I.A.F. PLANE FORCE - LANDS
Bombay (By Air Mail)
An Indian Air Force "Dove" Aircraft carrying India's Deputy Minister of Defence Major-General Himmatsinghji force landed due to engine trouble 40 miles from Jaipur on Jan 8. The Occupants of the aircraft were all reported to be safe.
The plane was reported to be on a direct flight from New Dehli to Poona, A relief plane was sent from New Dehli to Jaipur to take the Deputy Minister for Defence to his destination"
The pilot at the controls at the time was F/Lt Faredun Dinshaw Irani, IAF, and the aircraft was on the strength of Air HQ Communications Squadron Indian Air Force (IAF)
