Narrative:
Crashed shortly after take-off in IMC conditions; pilot (Roger Peterson) not instrument-rated. Also killed in the accident, 8 km N of Clear Lake, were Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly and Jiles P. Richardson (The Big Bopper). The accident became known as 'The day the music died'.
