Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-4 Wnr. 5604 'gelbe 3' of the 12./JG 1 piloted by Fw Fritz Koch crashed into the left wing.
The primary target as briefed was Wilhelmshaven, Germany, but due to severe weather and poor
navigation, it was decided to hit a 'target of opportunity': the Lemmer harbour in the Netherlands.
