Flew into high ground (approx 5,300 feet) near Eagle, Alaska, during exercise "Cope Thunder", for reasons not conclusively established by the Board of Inquiry. Aircraft took off at 10:35 hours local time, disappeared from radar some 25 minutes later, wreckage found and recovered approx 16:00 hours local

The pilot of the aircraft, Flt Lt Jason Hayes of 54(F) squadron, was unfortunately killed in the accident.

NOTE: The aircraft was assigned to 41 Squadron RAF, but the pilot was from 54 Squadron
