Narrative:
Republic F-84E-15-RE Thunderjet 49-2365, 182nd FBS, 136th FBW, Texas ANG (Air National Guard), USAF: Written off (destroyed) December 6 1951 when lost (failed to return) from combat operations over North Korea. Aircraft Hit by AAA, trailing smoke, glided out to Chinnamp'o Bay, Chinnamp'o, Sukch'ŏn County, South P'yŏngan province, North Korea. Pilot Captain Horace R Carman, USAF bailed out, captured and held as a POW until September 10 1953

CITATION:
Captain Horace R. Carman (AFSN: 0-2094651), United States Air Force, was captured by communist forces after he was shot down over North Korea on 6 December 1951, and was held as a Prisoner of War until his release on 10 September 1953, during Operation Big Switch at the end of the war.

Horace Robert “Bob” Carman died 28 Jun 2001 (aged 79) Tulsa County, Oklahoma, USA
