Narrative:
de Havilland DH.82A Tiger Moth MSN DHNZ.98; Taken on charge as NZ848 at Unit 18, Rongotai, Wellington 18.10.41. To 1 EFTS, Taieri [6.42-2.43]. To RNZAF Wigram [1945] for long-term storage pending disposal.

Struck off charge when sold 19.7.46 to Canterbury Aero Club. NZ civil registered as ZK-AJG 17.7.46 to Canterbury Aero Club, Christchurch. Re-registered 20.10.49 to James Aviation Ltd, Hamilton, and converted for agricultural (top dressoing.crop spraying) operations. Re-registered 23.3.56 to Hauraki Aero Club, Thames. Reported as written off following damage on ground Thames 6.7.57 (but possibly this involved another aircraft?).

Crashed during aerobatics Thames and destroyed by fire 19.1.58. Pilot John William Powell killed. The pilot had carried out an informal aerobatic display near the town of Thames and on returning to the aerodrome entered an aerobatic manoeuvre known as the " falling leaf " at an estimated height of 2,000 feet AGL. The weather was CAVU with a westerly wind of 5-10 knots. The aircraft failed to recover in time and collided with the ground, bursting into flames. The pilot was killed instantly and the Tiger Moth was destroyed.

Registration ZK-AJG cancelled 5.3.58 as "destroyed"
