The pilot took off from Kamnik Duplica. After take-off and after approximately one kilometre at an altitude of approx. 40 metres, a sudden spin and crash occurred while making turn.
According to eyewitnesses, the ultralight spiralled or spun towards the ground, hitting it almost at right angles.
Causes:
The pilot had extensive experience in flying ultralight trikes, as well as in hang gliding. He had made and repaired wings himself, including the accident wing that he had made himself. The most likely cause of the accident was pilot error, which caused the ultralight to go into a stall and a negative turn. The accident was probably caused also due to the strong moment of the inboard engine and the low altitude at which the the problems occurred.
