Narrative:
A77-251 ex-RAF Meteor F.8 WE906. Delivered to the RAF at 8 MU on 18/1/1951, transferred to the RAAF 9/2/51, and delivered ex-UK 15/2/51. Served in Korea with 77 Sqn, RAAF.

Lost in Action 1/12/51 near Sunchon, South Pyongan province, North Korea. Shot down by enemy fire during dog fight with MIG-15. The 12 Meteors of 77 Squadron, RAAF were attacked by 40 MiG-15s of the North Korean Air Force. Three were shot down: A77-29, A77-251 and A77-949. Pilot - Sgt Vance Drummond - ejected and was captured by North Korean Ground troops.(RAAF Ejection number 5).

Sgt Vance Drummond was held at Camp 2 at Pinchon-ni, until he attempted to escape on Good Friday (11 April) 1952: he was caught and punished, and spent the rest of his war in captivity, being repatriated in September 1953. He returned to service with the RAAF, but was killed when his Mirage aircraft crashed into the sea near Newcastle, NSW on 17 May 1967

Meteor A77-251 destroyed, and Struck off charge 09/04/52.
