55-2960 crashed on an USAF acceptance flight test on approach to Edwards AFB, 2 NM south of Rogers Dry Lake. Pilot Capt (AF Reserve) Harry A. Brown was killed.
Aircraft was destroyed: the aircraft pictured below, preserved at Palmdale, CA is marked as NASA N812NA is thus not the original!
