Narrative:Between 1602 and 1631 hrs (Soviet time) four I-153 and two I-16 from 71 IAP-KBF covered Il-2 ground attack aircraft on the Neva front. In air combat with three Bf-109 at an altitude of 1400 m the I- 153 of Leytenant Ivan Josefich Makeyev was shot down and he was killed.
He was probably shot down by Fw Otto Kittel of 2./JG 54 who claimed the only victory of the day against an I-153, at 1420 hrs (German time) near Dubrovka (Pl.Qu. 36 Ost/00264). It was his 26th victory, and the 5th of the day.
