Many sources report EP-ANA was shot down by Iraqi fighters Febr. 20, 1986 killing all 49 on board. Fokker reports that EP-ANA was indeed damaged that day. The aircraft was withdrawn from use temporarily and later repaired by Iran Aircraft Industries. EP-ANA was later damaged at Ramsar when it landed long and touched down 1200 m down the 1500 m long runway. The aircraft overran the runway by 100 m and came to rest against a concrete wall.
