Narrative:The Antonov 26, carrying a Ukrainian crew, was on a flight from Lukapa to Luanda via Dundo and Saurimo. The plane lost contact with the control tower some 20 minutes after takeoff. UNITA rebels claimed in a statement that they shot down the plane.

The Angolan aviation authorities intend, by the end of November 2000, to reassess the capacity of the foreign crews operating in the country, because of the high number of accidents involving those crews.
