Narrative:
RAF Ferry Command Liberator BZ935 left Harmon Field, located near Stephenville, NL, on 1 Mar 1944, destined for Reykjavik, Iceland. The five man crew consisted entirely of USAAF personnel from the 2nd Ferrying Group, on loan to the RAFFC. The B-24 was reported missing when it did not report to the enroute control center at RCAF Gander, NL. A six day search by RCAF and USAAF aircraft failed to find the missing Liberator and the crew were listed as MIA. In June 1947, the missing aircraft was discovered by a local lumberman near Gaff Topsail, NL.

Investigators were unable to determine the cause of the accident, but it is known that the aircraft crashed into the ground in a near vertical dive, disintegrating and instantly killing the five crew.
