Narrative:
Bristol Blenheim Mk.1V N6160 (RT-L) of 114 (Hong Kong) Squadron, RAF: Took off form Villeneuve-les-Vertus Aerodrome, 3.4 miles NE of Vertus, Marne, at 12:35 for Reconnaissance mission over the Ruhr Valley, Germany, and failed to return. Shot down by Ltn. Kurt Kirchner in a Bf 109 of 1./JG 52 (his 1st victory). According to the official Air Ministry file on the incident (File AIR 81/28), the Blenheim came down at Dreiborn, although most published sources gives the crash location as "Duisberg" in North Rhine-Westphalia (at approximate coordinates: 5126′6.53″N 645′45.69″E)

All three Crew killed:

Pilot: Pilot Officer Kenneth George Sheldon Thompson (Service Number 40445, aged 19) - Killed In Action
Observer: Sgt George Walton Marwood (Service Number 564032, aged 25) - Killed In Action
Wireless Op/Air Gunner: AC.1 Alexander Lumsden (Service Number 621435, aged 21) - Killed In Action

The dead airmen are buried in the Rheinberg War Cemetery.
