Narrative:
The port wing hit the water and the aircraft cartwheeled the sea three miles south of Shoreham, Sussex, during low altitude altimeter trials after the tail plane actuator failed. Both crew - (pilot) Squadron Leader Mike R Alston and Navigator Flt Lt V D Hall - were killed.
