Narrative:
A Robinson R22 Beta II helicopter struck a cable car (severing the cable) and crashed in a park near Avenue du Condroz in the Rue Saint-Remy, in the city centre of Huy (Hoei), Belgium, and was destroyed by fire. The helicopter was being used to take aerial photos of the town. The helicopter flew low over the River Maas and hit a cable lift. Both pilot Jean-Yves Dantinne and photographer Lawrence Matagne lost their lives. According to a rough translation into English of contemporary press reports:
"Helicopter Crash in Huy: two dead and affected buildings

The two occupants of a helicopter died shortly before 18:00 in a helicopter crash in Huy. The craft, which was flying low, hit a cable from the cable car and crashed into a park downtown.

Following the accident occurred Friday helicopter late afternoon in Huy, a cable car cable snapped and fell on the houses. A roof was particularly badly damaged, said the mayor Alexis Housiaux to Belga. The two helicopter occupants died Friday just before 18:00 in an accident at Huy. The craft, which was flying low, hit a gondola cable overlooking the Meuse and crashed in a park in the city center, close to the street of the Tanners, in the district of Saint-Remy.

The cable that was hit by the helicopter severed before falling on several buildings, some of which are damaged, especially in the rue Saint-Remy. The mayor Alexis Housiaux triggered the emergency municipal level soon after the accident. "It is possible that we will have to evacuate several buildings on which a weakened cable could still fall," he said. The cable car cabins were empty at the time of the accident. "They are close to their point of arrival, but one of them could fall if the cable breaks the door," further stated the mayor of Huy to the Belga agency.

The pilot was one of the most experienced in the country The helicopter was on a mission for a photographer who wanted to take aerial shots of the city, said an official from the airfield of Temploux. The pilot who died was a former helicopter pilot in the army and led for several years the Namur airfield. The causes of the accident remain undetermined, but the pilot of the aircraft, a Robinson 22, was particularly experienced. This is J.Y. Dantinne, former helicopter pilot in the army, who later became head of the Namur airfield for several years. The man had started his own flying school."
