The aircraft suffered a structural failure in flight, losing its empennage, went into a spin and and crashed into a mountain, a few minutes after takeoff from Ajaccio, the seaplane aircraft crashed into Mount Vordonne, near Appietto, northeast of Ajaccio. The crash killed 3 of the 4 passengers and crew on board:

M. Desnoyelles (pilot) killed
Major Richard Griffith Bassett Jeffries DSO (passenger, aged 47) killed
Mrs Grace Jeffries (passenger, aged 43) killed
Alexander McMicking (passenger, aged 65) killed
M. Melpell (wireless operator) survived but seriously injured

This accident interrupts flights until April 1923, the time of the official investigation.
