Consolidated C-87 Liberator C.Mk.VII EW624, 232 Squadron, RAF: Written off when crashed 12 December 1945 at Katunayake, 2 miles North West of Negombo, Ceylon (Sri Lanka)

The RAF Consolidated Liberator was on a trial flight from RAF Station Negombo but crashed soon after take off. Lost height while practising feathering: hit trees 2 miles North West of Negombo. Tail hit trees and aircraft cartwheeled into the ground. The aircraft crashed at night into a coconut plantation. 7 of the 15 crew on board died in the crash

EW624 was a Consolidated C-87-CF Liberator Express (c/no 53) ex-USAAF 44-39251
