Narrative:
On 17 March 1962 Republic F-105D-1-RE Thunderchief, 58-1148, was written off in an accident at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. This was the third D-model built. During a training mission, aircraft suffered an explosion and fire at 4,000 feet altitude in a climbing right turn. Pilot Capt. Joseph V. Cobislero ejected at 350 knots IAS, and the aircraft crashed 8 miles North of Fort Walton Beach, Florida on the Eglin Range. Pilot survived
