Narrative:
Swung off the runway on landing. The pilot attempted to ' go around ' but could not attain flying speed on the wet grass.
The Spitfire crashed in a field at the end of the runway, and the pilot sustained fatal injuries.

F/O John Morton Mears was cremated at Warriston Crematorium, Edinburgh.
