Narrative:The Mil Mi-2 helicopter hit an electricity transmission line and crashed. The pilot did not survive the crash.
The helicopter was engaged in aerial inspection of the Vatyogan oil field pipelines and cluster site for Lukoil.
The cause of the aviation accident involving the Mi-2 helicopter RA-23721 was the flight being conducted at an altitude of 10–12 meters, which did not ensure safe clearance over an obstacle, leading to a collision with power transmission lines.
It was not possible to determine the exact reason for the flight at such a low altitude, but it is most likely that during takeoff the pilot became distracted from controlling the helicopter and monitoring the outside environment due to the possible fall of an HP iPAQ Travel Companion pocket computer, which the pilot-in-command was using as a non-standard navigation device.
A contributing factor could have been the absence of markings on the power transmission wires.
