El 27 de junio de 1949 mientras se desarrollaba un vuelo en formación se roza en vuelo con el cazar interceptor Gloster Meteor F.Mk.IV matrícula I-092, piloteado por el Teniente Jorge Quagliardi, El I-070 cayó a tierra y falleciendo en el acto su piloto Alférez William Félix GIMENEZ, en las cercanías de la Base Aérea Militar Tandil, Provincia de Buenos Aires.
