El día jueves 29 de mayo del año 1947 el avión de entrenamiento de la Escuela de Aviación Militar de la provincia de Córdoba, North American NA-16, registro Ae 318. Número de serie 34-405, perteneciente a la Fuerza Aérea Argentina, cuyo piloto era el Alférez Cadete IV Blas Marcos Montesano, estaba realizando un vuelo de entrenamiento ordenado por a superioridad sobrevolando la localidad de Ferreyra, ubicada en el barrio homónimo de la ciudad de Córdoba,
el motor del avión comenzó a fallar, el piloto viendo que no podía recuperar los comandos saltó en paracaídas salvando su vida. El avión quedo destruido ante la caída.
