El día domingo 28 de marzo del año 1948 un avión Pipper Cub de matrícula sin identificar de caracter privado utilizado para vuelos turísticos perteneciente al Aero Club de Jujuy cuyos tripulantes era el piloto Fernando González Cano estando acompañado del Sr Pablo Gaite, se precipitó a tierra en la localidad de Termas de Reyes a la vera del río Reyes, distante 19 kilómetros de San Salvador de Jujuy, cerca del ingreso a la Quebrada de Humahuaca. Producto del accidente falleció su pasajero el Sr Gaite, mientras que su piloto el Sr González Cano resultó ileso.
