El 20 de abril de 1948 a las 09:30hs despegando desde la pista de la IV Brigada Aérea, El Plumerillo, provincia de Mendoza sufre una pérdida de sustentación y se destroza contra el terreno el avión de ataque FMA IAe 24 Calquín, matrícula Ex-07, perteneciente a la Fuerza Aérea Argentina, falleciendo sus dos ocupantes: Piloto: Teniente Sebastián Alejandro CUPANI (Promoción XI de EAM, egresado el 7 de diciembre de 1945, perteneciente al Grupo de Ataque, Base Aérea Militar El Plumerillo, Mendoza) Observador: Alférez Aldo Graciano BERTERREIX (Promoción XIII de EAM, egresado el 21 de diciembre de 1947, perteneciente al Grupo de Ataque, Base Aérea Militar El Plumerillo, Mendoza).
