El día sábado 15 de octubre del año 1949 un avión Luscombe 8E Silvaire Deluxe registro LV-NZW, perteneciente al Aero Club de la provincia de Santiago del Estero, cuyo piloto era el Sr Juan Rearte estando acompañado del Dr Benjamín Martín estaban realizando un vuelo de instrucción, sobre el campo de aviación del Aero Club Coronel Olmedo, de la provincia de Córdoba, por razones no aclaradas el avión se precipito a tierra, resultado del accidente, falleció el piloto y su acompañante quedó gravemente herido.
