On 2 February 1941 the 255 Sqdn suffered its first fatality when Boulton Paul Defiant Mk.I (N3306) stalled on final approach. The crash to pilot error.

Sgt (935568) Peroy Victor THORNTON (AG) RAFVR - escaped with minor head injuries.
