Narrative:Written off (damaged beyond repair) 07-05-1989 when overturned due to nose landing gear collapse on landing at Coll Island Airport (COL/EGEL) 5.8 miles west south-west of Arinagour on the Isle of Coll, in the Inner Hebrides. According to the following extract from the official AAIB report into the accident:
"The aircraft was landing on Runway 11, which has a grass surface. After a gentle touchdown, towards the completion of the landing run, there was a sharp 'crack', and the nose dropped, causing the propeller and spinner to strike the ground. The aircraft then overturned. The pilot switched off the fuel and electrical systems, and before evacauting the aircraft. The pilot stated the the nose landing gear had collapsed when the nose wheel ran into soft ground towards the end of the landing run."
Damage sustained to airframe: Per the AAIB report "damage to propeller and engine, aircraft nose and nose landing gear, wings, tail and rear fuselage". As a result the registration G-BHDO was cancelled by the CAA as "Permanently withdrawn from use" on 24-07-1989
