The aircraft, an experimental Anthony built Zodiac 601 HDS, experienced a loss of directional control and subsequent runway excursion upon landing at Nevada County Air Park (KGOO), Grass Valley, California. The airplane impacted a stationary aircraft, a Cessna 441 Conquest II, registration N33DE, and a post-impact fire occurred. The aircraft was partially consumed by the fire and the sole pilot onboard received serious injuries. The unoccupied Cessna 441 was substantially damaged.
