El día miércoles 17 de mayo de 1944 a las 08:40 horas el avión North American NA-16 registro Ae 315. Número de serie 34-402 perteneciente a la Aviación Militar del Ejército Argentino cuyo piloto era el Cadete de cuarto año Alfredo Álvarez del colegio Militar de aviación cuando cumplía un vuelo ordenado por la superioridad sin acompañante, el avión sufrió un accidente que provocó la muerte instantánea del cadete.
