El 29 de marzo de 1951 en horas de la noche, se precipita en cercanías de Chaján, provincia de Córdoba el avión de fabricación Nacional FMA IAe-24 Calquín, matrícula A.-94, mientras cumplía un vuelo entre Villa Reynolds, provincia de San Luis y Taller Regional Río Cuarto, provincia de Córdoba, posiblemente al ser alcanzado en vuelo por un rayo, falleciendo sus dos tripulantes: Piloto: Teniente Ismael Rubén Justo Laurent (Promoción XIII de EAM, egresado en diciembre de 1947). Copiloto: Teniente Héctor Horacio Fernandez (Promoción XIV de EAM, egresado el 11 de diciembre de 1948).
