El día sábado 28 de mayo del año 1938 un avión Grumman J2F Duck G-20 M-0-5 número construcción 361 cuyos tripulantes eran el piloto el Alférez de Fragata de Fragata Ronaldo Rossiter acompañado por el Marinero Casopo, estaba volando en las cercanías de Puerto Belgrano, Bahía Blanca, provincia de Buenos Aires, por causas que no se informaron se estrella en la rada de Puerto Belgrano sumergiéndose instantanemente. Su piloto el Alférez de Fragata pudo ser rescado antes de hundirse el avión pero su acompañante el Marinero se hundio con el avión y no pudo ser rescatado.
